More massive and positive than ever, bikers came on the street to demand better conditions for biking in Sofia: bike lanes, safe bike parkings, an extensive city bicycle network and clean air. And even car drivers stuck in the omninpresent traffic jams seem to agree! |

A massive crowd of about 500-600 people took part in the annual bike action in Sofia on May 15th, Climate Day. People from 1 to 88 years old, on bikes, on roller skates, in wheelchairs or in baby buggies walked and cycled with police support from Baba Yaga park over Popa, NDK, Vitoshka, Sveta Nedelia, Alexander Batenberg Square, Sofia University back to Baga Yaga.
No only the crowd was overwhelming, it was definitely the most positive action ever, as not only bikers and pedestrians but also car drivers are increasingly aware of the problems of traffic unsafety, congestion and worsening air quality. It looks that everybody is ready for a change! Bat Bojko, how long do we have to wait for our bike lanes? Where is our city bicycle network? When can we say: Bat Bojko bikes??
Interested bikers can become active in the newborn civilian bicycle union, so to organise ourselves better and have more frequent actions. It's the momentum! so get in touch or send your ideas to velobg (at) gmail.com or at http://bikerevolution.blogspot.com/

No problem to translate :-). I expected you are a bulgarian guy, so it seemed strange to me...
The post is on the main site if you choose English under the [Languages] at the left. Maybe somewhere you can set the site to display both languages, but I do not know where. Anyway, this is an open-source project, I do not think there is a bulgarian-specific hack to hide the english posts.
If you still think there is a problem with the english posts, pls write to imc-bulgaria (at) lists.indymedia.org with a description of the issue, we will try to fix it. |
